We love building background knowledge with Newsela. When we start learning about a new topic, especially in social studies, we first get some information from Newsela. We can change the reading level to suit our needs and take a quiz to test our understanding.
We're staring multi-digit multiplication. In fourth grade we learn to multiply with partial products. This means we break down each number in expanded form and multiply each part of one number by each part of the other number using the rectangle method below. This way, when we learn the traditional algorithm, we can really see how it works and where each number comes from. This is coming your way next week, check it out!
The snow was light and fluffy, the wind stopped, and we enjoyed our friends' company on a lovely Wednesday morning lap around the Poop Loop. We love living in Crested Butte!
