In reading and writing we're exploring nonfiction texts. We're learning a lot of cool facts about a lot of different topics. We've noticed that nonfiction authors must be a pretty curious bunch. In order to research and write about a topic, you'd have to be inherently curious about it! Today we explored our own wonders and curiosities using Wonderopolis. Check it out below!
Today we completed our models of the human eye. We learned how light passes through the cornea lens and the pupil to project an image onto the "screen" or the retina at the back of our eyes. The image is projected upside down and our brain translates it so our world is right side up. We learned how the cornea and the retina have to be just the right distance apart for the world to be in focus. People with glasses have an eyeball that is slightly too long or too short. Luckily an extra lens can correct the vision!
Our Titan Trait of the month is EMPATHY. Today Ms. Stacey helped us define the word, think about our own empathetic tendencies, and notice where we can improve!
Our math program has lots of great math games. Today we practiced two new ones! Now we can play them on our own when we finish our regular math work. We practiced playing with new partners. We practiced using the counters and white boards. The cool thing about math is there's no right way to arrive at an answer. Different strategies work for different people.
Today we finished our finger models. We learned that tendons connect our bones to our muscles. Muscles pull the tendons and move the bones. Our joints are where bones meet and our fingers and bodies bend. It was a blast! Next we explore the structures of the human eye. |
