We did a little art project in the classroom. We're making leaf people! We look through our basket of collected fall leaves and give our people clothes. We have some recommended reading for more art like this... Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert and Look What I Did with a Leaf by Morteza E. Sohi. Can you guess which leaf person is which?

We've been working really hard this week and getting a lot done. We're flying through our poems, reading like crazy, working hard at math, being technology experts, and mastering our classroom routines. We're just 10 marbles away from a classroom party. Look at these happy, productive faces! We're beaming!
More math! We do an hour of math every afternoon and we're getting really good! Lately we've been talking about true and false. We have to look at an equation and decide if it's right or not. If it's not, we have to figure out how to change each part to make it true!
We do a lot of work in our math journals. Right now we're working on number combinations, addition, and subtraction problems. We keep our work in our journals so it's all in one place and we can watch our progress. We get better each day!
This week was wacky. Early release Tuesday and Wednesday kind of messed with our routine. We needed ten minutes of extra recess at the end of the day on Wednesday.
Miss Lisa May is the best. Here we are picking out books to take home and checking them out. She reads aloud to us and teaches us how to pick out just right books.
We've been hard at work on a special writing project just for you. We can't wait to share them with you at parent teacher conferences. We hope you love them! We'll try really hard to keep some of the promises we wrote about...
We spend time each day in small groups at the reading table. We read books that are just right for us. We also use the white boards to work with different words and sounds. We can really figure out how to spell words when we practice, make mistakes, and try out different letters!
