So we've mastered the introduction, we've collectively written what seems like a million chapters, we've added our pictures, we've included the table of contents, all that's left...the ending. Check out these awesome conclusions. Today we wrote introductions to our already prolific chapter books. This way our author knows what to expect and what they will learn about. "Sink into" this awesome first line! Also, Friday Freedom got exciting. Some of us chose to add to our chapter books and others created GIANT art work. Oh, and we had a visit from our favorite reading buddies!
Today we visited the book fair. We made wishlists of our favorites. They are coming home in Friday Folders. Please join us at Family Night next Tuesday the 9th to take a look around. It's a great school fundraiser. Thanks to the PTO for putting it on.
We spent some time working on our winter gift to you. Here's a sneak peak of one of today's art projects!
In other news...each morning we start off quietly reading from our browsing boxes. Our browsing box holds all of the books we've been working on in small groups. Reading these books gives us a chance to practice the skills we're working on. Reading books more than once is a great way to practice phonics skills and work on comprehension. We were SUPER focused today! Look at our quiet reading faces. A relaxing Thanksgiving break did us all some good!
We're developing our critical reading skills each day in our Reader Response Journals. Today we chose a book and wrote different endings. It's challenging to change the author's work, but we came up with great, creative new ways to finish the stories.
