What a fun way to spend the day. Some Frisbee, some playground time, some lawn games, and lots of splashing in the river. Sounded a lot like summer out there today. When we got back it was unanimous...
all we wanted to do was sit with a good book and read with our friends. I hope they're tired tonight :) Thank you all for a wonderful sleepover. I hope the kids enjoyed themselves. We certainly bonded as a class after this fabulous year. This morning we checked out our class autobiography and collective book. Don't forget you can order these beauties on Amazon. All About Us Love Your Garbage Outside was cool and cloudy, but the pool at the ARC was warm and balmy. We loved spending the day with out first grade friends from all the classes. And we're definitely feeling sleepy! Oh! And we released the last of our butterflies. We can't wait to examine the chrysalis remains tomorrow! We're busting out the magnifying glasses and taking a good close look.
Let them be free! Today was the perfect day to be outside celebrating with our first grade friends. Just like these beautiful Painted Lady Butterflies, we're looking forward to spreading our wings in second grade. Next release round happening next Tuesday...
This afternoon we did more STEM challenges because...why not!
The task was to build a structure using only clothespins and popsicle sticks. We could build the tallest structure possible or the strongest structure possible. Check it out! We started the year with a STEM challenge, so why not go out with one too! We were challenged to create the tallest tower possible that supported a marshmallow on top. Here's were the materials we had to work with: 20 pieces of spaghetti 1 meter of tape 1 meter of ribbon 1 marshmallow Our teamwork skills have come a LONG way. Woohoo! Butterflies are cool. And also a total mystery. Did you know that in the metamorphic process a caterpillar completely liquefies inside of the chrysalis before transforming into a butterfly?! In other news, we had our last first grade visit from our favorite story teller, Aya. Check out this funny song we sang in operatic voices. Wow! Thank you for all of your hard work. These kids are amazing. We are clever, creative, and ingenious problem solvers. The world is in good hands. Check out this captive audience!
