We're combining all of our fourth-grade math skills into BIG number stories. Turns out, that reading the directions a couple of times makes a big difference. Solve this problem:
Mrs. Haverford runs a costume shop. Actors in a local play asked her to order two kinds of hats: top hats and bowler hats. She placed two orders for top hats, which cost her $132. Three top hats came in each order. She placed two orders for bowler hats, which cost $160. Five bowler hats came in each order. Actors will pick up an individual hat. How much should she charge for a top hat? How much for a bowler hat? Which costs more? How much more? Comments are closed.
