Today we read Miss Kylie's new favorite book, Leaf. It's got some pretty great messages like kindness and inclusion, but it's also all about coming up with great ideas to solve problems. In this book the crows help a stranded polar bear fly home. We spent some time talking about great ideas we have whether they're inventions or just great ways to solve problems. We did some of our quietest and most focused writing all year!
Norah wants to create a trash can that makes it fun for kids to throw things away. Then they won't litter!
Edy wants to create a shoe that transforms from a flip flop to a snow boot so your feet are the right temperature.
Coco wants to create a snow suit that's speedy to put on with zippers that don't get stuck so we can spend more time outside.
Yari wants to promote the Earth. He thinks we should all be more kind to it and he wants to share that message.
Andrew thinks that we litter because we eat snack outside. If we eat snack inside that will solve the problem.
Siri wants to make a sick box. When she's sick she will have everything she needs and her dad won't have to get it.
Dayanara wants to create a robot that cleans up for us, just like Roz. But it will also put us in time out if we're mean.
Ana's cubby is always full. She thinks that if we bring less stuff to school we would have less problems.
Silas wants to create an Earth moving machine. All stars go out, so he wants to be prepared when our sun goes out.
Carter wants to create a machine that changes babies diapers...because let's be honest, that's a gross job!
Boti wants to create a three plane machine to prevent plane crashes. If one plane fails you have to back-ups.
Jadyn wants to create a remote control rocket that can put away all the toys that are kept on shelves that are out of reach.
Beck wants to make a car that can run on the same gasoline over and over again. Then we use a lot less and pollute less.
Baylie is sick of snow. She wants to make the sun come out more to melt to snow so it can actually be summer.
Sloan wants to create a car that doesn't use gasoline. She also thinks we should all ride the buses more.
Max doesn't like when his friend fight. He will talk to them and only play with them when everyone is kind.
Mary Catherine wants to attach napkins under her leggings so her knees don't get wet in the grass.
Kai thinks gasoline is bad for the Earth so he wants to promote biking, electric cars, and non-gasoline vehicles.
Ella wants to create a new mail system. As mail is dropped in the door it gets delivered to the correct room.
We all have fabulous ideas. I can't wait to see what these kids do when they grow up and become inventors and thinkers and doers and do jobs that don't even exist yet!
