OUR ROOM...

Today we finished up our classroom contract. These are the set of guidelines we have agreed to live by this year in first grade.  At first we made a list of all the things we thought first grade should look like.  But it sounded like this:

NO hitting  NO running in the halls  
NO being mean  NO making messes  
NO calling out  ​NO talking to strangers
NO yelling  NO climbing fences      
NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!

...and that sounded like a "terrible, horrible, no good, very bad" year in first grade!
So, we re-evaluated and made a list of the things we WANT in first grade.
​And it felt much better!  Kinda like this:

We came up with the words to describe how our classroom should look, sound, and feel. And then we each signed it to make it official. We'll keep adding to it as we think of new things, but we're feeling pretty excited and positive about what the year holds in store for us.
