THE TABLE WHERE RICH PEOPLE SIT

Today we read a truly amazing book, The Table Where Rich People Sit.  We so commonly think of "rich" as meaning having a lot of money and things that money can by, but in reality it can mean so much more than that.  We discussed all the ways we are rich...and there were many. We love living in Aspen and Snowmass where we can hike, ski, run, bike, and play in the mountains.  That makes us rich!  We love going to Aspen Elementary School where we learn to read, write, and play outside with friends.  That makes us rich!  We love our families, the delicious food we eat, and the love we get. That certainly makes us feel rich!  This book is worth checking out!

Today, Lilah told us that a gorilla gave birth at the Denver Zoo for the first time in 11 year. Gorillas are endangered and so this is a very good thing!  The Gorilla's name is Adepa, which means "good thing," and we certainly thought this was a good thing!  You can check out the article and pictures here.

Taj taught us a little bit about surface tension!  He wanted to know how to make a boat move without wind or a motor.  He's interested in alternative energy so this was right up his alley. Turns out a little soap on the bottom of a boat breaks up the surface tension of the water and makes the boat glide.

Check out this cool video.  One boat has no soap and the other has soap.  Pretty amazing...we're thinking of testing the theory out on a cruise ship.  Could be an environmental breakthrough!
